Vera Wang Fall/Winter 2014 Ready-to-Wear Review

While reading Vogue.com's Fall 2014 trend reports, I became intrigued at their mentioning of the insect brooches at Vera Wang's latest ready-to-wear runway show. So, naturally, I pulled up another tab on my Mac laptop and went to Style.com for each Vera Wang look. I instantly fell in love with the dark plaid dresses and thick wool overcoats. Pinned to most, if not all, of the outerwear garments were shiny silver beetles and other multi-legged creepy crawlers. The most favorited look was the "Don't Bug Me" tee paired with the leather skirt and matching gloves, silver bug necklace, black plaid flannel, and platform booties. Very additude. Me likey. Now Vera Wang is the kind of designer I always associated with big frilly wedding dresses that she is iconic for. However, when there were dresses, they were dark, sheer, flower printed, and uniquely lace decorated. They made the show more elegant as it progressed, using sheer fabrics that had mystical tree-like printing on them. There were also dark velvety coats and even sweaters over some of the smooth dresses, creating a great contrast and adding luxury. The collection was punk meets fairy tale queen, a storyline I've seen before at Alexander McQueen. Only this time, the clothes were much more wearable and easy for the trendy fashionistas who will be shopping come fall.
